Emmy Awards unrolls record-long red carpet
The Emmy Awards unrolled the longest red carpet in the show's history with help from host Jimmy Kimmel.

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES -- Preparations for the 68th Emmy Awards have been underway and host Jimmy Kimmel helped to get the red carpet unrolled at the Microsoft Theatre on Wednesday.

It was no small task though, because this year's red carpet was the longest in the history of the award show.

"The reason we have the longest red carpet in history, and that is pretty exciting, it's because this is going to be the longest Emmy show in history," Kimmel joked.

Actually, the 1,325 foot long red carpet was supposed to be symbolic of the rapidly growing television landscape.

While the record-long red carpet wasn't expected to cause any problems, Kimmel said should any security issues arise, he would handle them himself.

"Well you know, on 'Dancing with the Stars' someone ran out and interrupted the show when Ryan Lochte was dancing so if something like that happens I won't wait for security. I will beat them to a pulp myself," Kimmel quipped.
