Theater on the Lake begins major renovation

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Theater on the Lake in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood is starting a major renovation.

City leaders broke ground on the project on Monday.

The building will become a year-round performance venue and will include a restaurant.

An outdoor terrace will feature a 330-seat main theater and two adjacent event spaces with views of the skyline.

The renovations are expected to be finished by the summer of next year.
