Express bus lanes, new bus shelters coming to the Loop

CHICAGO (WLS) -- After some long delays, work is scheduled to begin next month on some express bus lanes in the Loop.

The project will include 2 miles of bus-only lanes on Madison, Washington, Canal and Clinton streets, near Union Station.

City officials hope the new lanes will increase bus reliability and decrease commute times.

There are also plans for eight new bus shelters along Madison and Washington.

The nearly $33 million project should be complete by early next year.
