11th Annual Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce is proud to host and produce the 11th Annual Lakeview East Festival of the Arts. The arts festival takes place Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13 and has celebrated 10 years in Lakeview, a dynamic and diversified neighborhood community rich in culture, history and the arts on Broadway from Belmont Ave. to Hawthorne Street. The 2015 Lakeview East Festival of the Arts showcases more than 150-juried artists featuring world-class original paintings, sculpture, photography, furniture, jewelry and more. This will all be in addition to the diverse artists' booths, live music on multiple stages, the interactive children's area, wine and food booths and much more.

Lakeview East Festival of the Arts asks for a $5 donation upon entrance and those who donate will be entered to win round-trip tickets to any scheduled destination serviced by Southwest Airlines. The hours are Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 am - 6 pm with live music, food and drink tents until 10 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 13 from 10 am - 6 pm A kick off party will be held Friday, Sept. 11 from 6 - 10 pm. NEW THIS YEAR:

Kick-off Party and Sneak Peek Celebration

Friday, Sept. 11th 6 - 10 p.m.

Party will feature bands Akasha at 6:30 pm and Old Shoe at 8 pm a selection of artists and vendors will be open during this time as well as food and drink vendors. The party will take place on Broadway between Belmont Ave. and Montrose.

Patch Landscaping and Jacqueline Edelberg presents Fairy Gardens

For the past eight years, the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts has created a garden oasis directly on Broadway Ave (at Hawthorne St.). There have been Madhatter Parties, Imagination Gardens, life sized chess games and more. This year, Fairy Gardens is the theme and there will be eight miniature gardens complete with miniature furnishings, fairy-scale plants and plenty of mystique. The gardens are designed by Lakeview East resident and community activist Jacqueline Edelberg.

Sculpture Design and Debut by Dan Shaughnessy

Sculpture Artist and Logan Square resident Dan Shaughnessy will be showcasing large scale sculptures at both entrances of the festival as well as debuting a new piece in the Fairy Gardens. Shaughnessy specializes in metal and abstract form and these pieces, which will be illuminated, will not disappoint.

Live Cooking Demonstrations

Cooking demonstrations, led by FlavorCity's Bobby Parrish, feature chefs from Lakeview's popular restaurants Brazillian Bowl, Noodles, Bar Pastoral, Clark Street Dogs, Cafe L'Appettto and New York Delicatessen. All demonstrations are interactive and take place outside in a tented area. FlavorCity runs regular blog posts from Parrish on great food, culinary inspiration, saving money, travel and technology. The Lakeview Festival of the Arts also presents live music during the festival. The performers and bands represent a wide variety of styles and influences for attendees to enjoy as they tour the numerous booths and vendors or relax while sampling the variety of food and drink. Artists in almost every medium are represented including photography, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, clay, collage, fiber, glass, sculpture, furniture and more. Unique and original artwork is for sale in all price ranges. Admission to The Festival, located on Broadway Avenue between Belmont Avenue and Hawthorne Street, is a suggested $5 donation and all who donate will be entered to win round-trip tickets to any scheduled destination serviced by Southwest Airlines.
