Adoption in reach for Chicago families
November is National Adoption Awareness Month and the organization Gift of Adoption is celebrating its 20th anniversary in a big way.

CHICAGO -- November is National Adoption Awareness Month and the organization Gift of Adoption is celebrating its 20th anniversary in a big way. Throughout the month, Gift of Adoption is awarding around $100,000 in adoption assistance grants to find families for 30 children in need. Right now, more than 153 million orphans around the world are hoping to find a family, including more than 400,000 in the U.S.

Gift of Adoption is hosting several events in November, including a Stair Climb event on November 13, 2016 at the Grant Thorton Tower. Forty members from the organization's high school junior board will climb 50 flights of stairs to raise money and awareness for their cause. You can sponsor a climber here. Gift of Adoption's Director of Development, Elizabeth O'Connor, and High School Junior Board of Director members, Brendan Schafer and Eliza Tilson, visited ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about the events and how you can help.
