Mother left homeless by Hurricane Harvey delivers baby girl

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (WLS) -- An expectant mother whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey has given birth to a baby girl.

Danielle Weeks - with whom ABC News has been embedded since the storm made landfall in Texas last week - delivered baby Loralynn on Tuesday morning.

Just days before she gave birth, Weeks and her family learned that their home in Port Aransas, Texas, was destroyed by the storm. The family of five had been staying in a hotel in Corpus Christi until she went in for her medically-necessary cesarean section.

Her husband Will called the little bundle their miracle and said, "as long as she (baby) is safe nothing else matters."

Before the storm, the young family's initial plans were to ride out the hurricane in a hotel, have their baby in a nearby hospital and go home. But on Saturday, after seeing their car smashed and their RV flipped on its side with many of the inside contents spilled out, that all changed.

"The worst part is seeing all my kids' stuff on the ground," Danielle Weeks told ABC News. "I just hope everybody left."

When she spotted a blanket in the video - one she had been knitting for the newest addition to the family - sodden on the muddy turf, she began to cry.

"That's the baby's blanket I was making for her," she said.

For now, the family of five is homeless and trying to figure out what's next, though Danielle said her family will return to Port Aransas. But it won't be easy - Port Aransas has been declared 100 percent damage and rebuilding is expected to take up to two years.
