Seat belt incident caught on camera
A father caught the moment he says his son's seat belt malfunctioned on a roller coaster

AMARILLO, Texas -- A father and his 6-year-old son got a scare they weren't expecting when they took a ride on a roller coaster at an Amarillo amusement park recently.

Delbert Latham was recording on his cell phone when his son's seat belt malfunctioned on the ride at Wonderland Park.

Latham said, "As soon as we went over, I felt the seatbelt release. I guess the motion of it going down threw him to the bottom of the cart. That's when I reached over to grab him."

KVII reports Latham held his son until the ride ended. And perhaps even more shocking -- when latham complained, he says park employees told him it wasn't the first time that had happened.

Latham said, "He stated to me that, 'Oh yeah, I'm sorry about that. That's been happening sometimes.' That made me (angrier), obviously. They didn't put anybody in the seat that we were sitting in, but they still loaded the rest of the seats up and let the ride take off again."

Wonderland Park says it later removed the cart in question, and made sure all the seat belts were working.
