HENLAWSON, W.Va. (WLS) -- Brianna Vance's quick thinking saved her father's life after severe weather trapped her father and his two friends under a tree.

Vance, 10, posted a desperate plea for help to Facebook after a violent storm knocked a tree onto her house. Her father and two of his friends, who had been sitting on the porch, were trapped underneath. The severe weather also knocked out cell phone signals and the house had no land line, but the WiFi was still working.

"The lightning crashed and hit a tree on our porch and my dad's almost dead," she said in her Facebook post. "He needs an ambulance, please, please call one for us if you have signal. We live in a yellow house."

Fortunately, someone who saw her post called 911 and rescuers arrived to help all three victims. Vance's father was hospitalized with broken bones. He was out of the hospital and home on Sunday to celebrate Father's Day with the daughter who saved his life.
