CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel congratulated students at Mary Lyon Elementary School's graduation ceremony, following the first year of full-day kindergarten in Chicago.
Emanuel joined parents to celebrate their kids in the 2900-block of North McVicker Avenue for the 9 a.m. ceremony on the last day of school for CPS students.
CPS guaranteed all 30,700 kindergarten students access to the full-day program for the first time this school year.
The Mayor's Office said access to full-day kindergarten increased by 50 percent since 2011.
