VILLA PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- An effort to clear up misconceptions about the Muslim faith was launched this weekend.
The Islamic Foundation of Villa Park held an open house Saturday afternoon. Neighbors were on hand for the congregation prayer and a luncheon.
The event was organized with the help of a group called GainPeace.
"The main reason we are here, inviting our neighbors is to make sure that we connect with each other, that we work with each other and we build bridges," said GainPeace director Dr. Sabeel Ahmed.
Questions were answered and tours were given about the foundation's mosque.
