Veterans receive food, medical and employment aid at event

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hundreds of homeless veterans from Cook County got some help for the summer months ahead at an event hosted by several agencies, including the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

They were provided with a hot meal and a take-away bag of food, fresh produce and clothing.

Medical services and employment assistance were also provided.

There's an estimated 18,000 veterans in Cook County who live below the poverty line.
