WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WLS) -- A fourth grader in Connecticut has written her way to the top of a national handwriting contest.

Emilyn Auriantal, 9, is a pro with a pen.

"I love writing and I can form my letters. It's not that hard for me but I have to put a lot of concentration into it," Joanna White, her mother, said.

Out of 270,000 students Emilyn was one of 18 winners with the best cursive handwriting.

"I couldn't be more proud, I couldn't be more proud and being a mom to her and her sisters is my favorite part of life," her mother said.

Emilyn was recognized at a school assembly and received a trophy.

On top of all that, she also got straight A's this year.
