CHICAGO (WLS) -- If you missed the midnight deadline to sign up for federal health care, you might have more time with an extension.

Nearly half a million people had trouble signing up over a last minute computer glitch.

The federal exchange and some states, like California and New York, are allowing those who have been working on an application a few more days to finish picking a plan.

People who've had technical problems can work things out with Get Covered Illinois, during a special enrollment period.

Those who did not sign up may face a penalty of $325 or 2 percent of their household income.
