A Small Guide to Losing Big
For anyone looking to lose weight, the biggest question is often: How do I start?

CHICAGO (WLS) -- For anyone looking to lose weight, the biggest question is often: How do I start? Cheryl Forberg - chef and nutritionist for "The Biggest Loser" and New York Times bestselling

author of a dozen books on the subject, including her latest "A Small Guide to Losing Big" - has the answer. With her is Monte Morris, who lost 48 pounds, to share what you can do to get in shape.

Cheryl says there are three key triggers that lead to weight gain: (1) most people have no idea how many calories their bodies need; (2) a lot of people skip breakfast, snacks and other meals which leads to the loss of natural hunger cues; and (3) people prioritize other things above their own health and wellness.

Cheryl's advice: begin at home. The contents of our fridge and cupboards mirror our health. If your shelves are loaded with sugar and white stuff - chips, crackers, microwave popcorn packets (with oil and "flavorings") - and your freezer is filled with ice cream treats, it's time to take out the garbage. Substitute these unhealthy foods with healthy options and you'll immediately notice the results.
