Federal health insurance signups extended after website glitch

Those who are not covered by health insurance have just over a week to enroll for "Get Covered Illinois" before the deadline.

If you missed the midnight deadline to sign up for federal health care, you might have more time with an extension.

Nearly half a million people had trouble signing up over a last minute computer glitch.

The federal exchange and some states, like California and New York, are allowing those who have been working on an application a few more days to finish picking a plan.

People who've had technical problems can work things out with Get Covered Illinois, during a special enrollment period.

Those who did not sign up may face a penalty of $325 or 2 percent of their household income.
