CHICAGO (WLS) -- Summer is finally here, but with all that fun in the sun comes a danger.

Every year, more cases of skin cancer are diagnosed than the combined incidence of breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancers.

Ninety percent of non-melanoma cancers are associated with ultraviolet light, including sun exposure and tanning bed use. But there are ways to protect yourself.

Dr. Omeed Memar, medical director at the Academic Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute, visited the ABC7 studios to explain ways to keep your skin safe.
