Study links diet soda to belly fat

If you're having trouble shedding belly fat, new research published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society may point to the problem.

According to researchers, people who drank diet soda daily gained nearly triple the amount of abdominal fat over nine years than those who avoided the beverage.

Belly fat is associated with increased cardiovascular disease, inflammation and type 2 diabetes.
