Uber delivers free flu shots across Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Uber app was used to deliver flu shots across the Chicago area on Tuesday. The ride-sharing service drove the vaccination directly to customers, along with a registered nurse.

Nurse Corey McVey rode with an Uber driver carrying medical supplies and flu vaccinations. Uber for Health is a campaign to offer flus shots to some Uber customers where they are - not in the car.

The most common question he got: "Are you the Uber driver?"

That was Alejandra Diaz' question. Once she was sure the person giving the shot was not the Uber driver and the vaccination would not happen in the back seat of the car, she was in.

"Honestly, I just wanted to prevent the flu because I've had it two times this year and it's been pretty bad," Diaz said.

Actually Dr. Diaz in Venezuela, she's now studying for her medical license exam at Kaplan Test Prep. When her fellow would be doctors heard, she got company.

"I know, everybody's getting vaccines because I ordered it. I love that!" she said.

The free flu shots was a short-lived program, but if Uber does this again, you'll find the option under "health" on your app.
