Hispanic Housing Development Corp. breaks ground on veterans housing
The Hispanic Housing Development Corporation is breaking ground on the 65th Infantry Regiment "Borinqueneers" Veterans Housing development.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A community organization is connecting veterans with affordable housing right here in Chicago. The Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) is breaking ground on the 65th Infantry Regiment "Borinqueneers" Veterans Housing development as a new permanent supportive rental housing building for veterans.

The development is to be built on land donated by Norwegian American Hospital. Low-income veterans will be able to live in a sustainable area with environmental green amenities and on-site access to mental health services, employment training, education programming and more.

We were honored to welcome Hipolito "Paul" Roldan, CEO of the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, and Tomas Lozada, a veteran of the 65th Infantry Regiment and thus a "Borinqueneer," in our studio to talk about the project.
