Gold coin sales in Rosemont halted amid safety concerns

ROSEMONT, Ill. (WLS) -- Sales of the just-minted gold John F. Kennedy coins in Rosemont have been halted because of safety concerns.

Hundreds of people started lining up outside the Stephens Convention Center on Monday night to buy the new coins, but officials are worried about crowd control.

The coins commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy half-dollars and can still be purchased online.
