Illinois Patriot Guard escorts WTC beam across state

A group of motorcyclists will escort a beam from the World Trade Center on I-80 across the state of Illinois through the day Friday.

The Patriot Guard riders nationwide have been asked to honor one of the last beams from the World Trade Center as it travels to its new home in Colorado.

Illinois Patriot Guard members accepted the escort from Indiana Patriot Guard members early Friday morning at the Lincoln Southland Oasis at westbound I-80/94.

The riders then began escorting the convoy as far west as they can to the Iowa border.
