JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A Joliet church held a Mass on Wednesday to remember a mother and daughters killed in an apparent murder-suicide this week.
Celisa Henning, 41, fatally shot her twin daughters, Addison and Makayla, multiple times in the head and then turned the gun on herself. Her husband discovered the three bodies on Monday when he came home from work.
The special service at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church sought to help the community grieve.
"It was just kind of a shock that this could happen so close to home," said Nina Bartells, who knows the family because her mother lives on the same street. "We would see the kids playing outside. They were always a good, sweet family."
The daughters had just enrolled for school at St. Paul the Apostle School in Joliet.
The shooting took place at the family's home in the 400-block of North Reed Street.
