CHICAGO (WLS) -- Helping the homeless is not how most young men celebrate their 21st birthday, but a college senior from Elgin spent his day delivering brown bagged lunches to the homeless on Lower Wacker Drive.

Julyan Madison, along with his mom and brother walked around and handed out sandwiches and bottles of water. Julyan says he wanted to make his birthday more meaningful.

"Today is a day I look back on my life and all of the things I've done. And there are times I could have been in the same situation they're in now," Julyan said.

Julyan is a senior at Tennessee State. He says he hopes to hand out lunches every year on his birthday.
