A Maryland police officer has been reunited with a former K-9 months after the dog was sent away.

The K-9 named Chip was retired and put up for adoption after he bit the officer during a training exercise. Determined to find him, the officer found the adoption paperwork and drove 10 hours to pick up Chip.

"Chip came up off the backseat, put his face right up against the window. And I literally put it in park and jumped out and he jumped right into my arms. It was the, ah, it was the best feeling," Officer Gil Fones said.

Officer Fones said the bite during the training exercise was only minor and he still wanted to keep Chip.
