Group urges Kaepernick to stand during national anthem at Soldier Field on Sunday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Veterans, police officers and others rallied Saturday near Soldier Field urging San Francisco 49er football player Colin Kaepernick to stand for the national anthem on Sunday when his team plays the Chicago Bears.

The demonstrators said it's more than a football game. Soldier Field in Chicago is named in honor of soldiers, so he should stand, they said.

Kaepernick has faced a criticism since he started taking a knee during the anthem to bring attention to the mistreatment of people of color.

"I'd like to remind Mr. Kaepernick, people fight to get into this country, they don't fight to leave it, anytime you want to leave, you can leave," one of the protesters said.

There also was a counter protest with people speaking out against police violence.
