CPD promotes Kevin Navarro to second-highest post

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Police Department has announced that Kevin Navarro will become First Deputy Superintendent, the second-highest ranking position, on September 7.

The lifelong Chicagoan has spent more than 30 years in the department, most recently as Deputy Chief of Patrol on the South Side.

He replaces John Escalante, who has taken a position as Chief of Police at Northeastern Illinois University.
