Police: Love triangle turns deadly
A man was fatally shot and a woman wounded in what police believe was a love triangle shooting.

KATY, Tex. -- A 78-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing his wife's boyfriend and shooting and injuring his wife.

The shooting happened Friday morning in the 24600 block of Tokatee Court in Katy. According to Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office investigators, Dennis Patrick Gibson, 78, shot his wife's boyfriend outside their home. The victim, who has not been identified, was taken by Life Flight after the shooting, but was later pronounced dead. The suspect's wife, Jaqueline Gibson, 68, is expected to survive.

"The female was transported by ground to Katy Hermann," Detective Justin White said, "She has two gunshot wounds, we believe, at this time. She is conscious and alert. She does not appear to be in any life-threatening danger at this point."

Neighbors awoke to the sound of gunshots Friday morning.

"And then we heard, 'pow, pow,' two gunshots," Shannon Line said, "And that's when we called 911."

Other neighbors said there has been some family drama going on at the house, and that a middle school-aged boy lives with the elderly couple. All neighbors who spoke with Eyewitness News said the elderly man seemed very nice.

"That's a little scary," neighbor Naseem Nouhpisheh said, "Hard to believe. He's always been a very quiet, nice, considerate man."

Investigators say Dennis Gibson confessed to the shooting. He has been booked into the Fort Bend County Jail, charged with aggravated assault and murder.
