Metra to expand pet program to all lines

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Metra is making it easier to travel with your pet by expanding its pilot pet riding program to all lines.

The railroad has been testing a pilot program that allows small pets in carriers on weekend Rock Island District trains.

A survey found most riders supported the program, so it's now being expanded to all Metra weekend trains from Oct. 10-Jan. 31, 2016.

After that, Metra says it will evaluate whether or not to continue allowing pets on trains.
