Extensive delays on Metra UP-NW train after pedestrian struck, killed

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (WLS) -- Inbound and outbound Metra Union Pacific-Northwest trains are moving again after a pedestrian was struck and killed near the Mt. Prospect station shortly before 7 p.m.

The trains stopped near Arlington Heights, Cumberland and Mt. Prospect after an outbound express train hit the pedestrian, Metra officials confirm.

Extensive delays are expected throughout the evening.
