Man tried to lure girl, 12, into car on Near North Side, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car on Chicago's Near North Side, police said.

The girl was walking in the 500-block of West Elm Street just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said an African American man in his early 30s drove up in a small, white four-door sedan and lure her inside. The girl ran to her school and told security what happened.

The victim told police the suspect may have a scratch on his face. He had short black hair, was clean shaven and was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
