Police warn of New City robberies

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning residents of a series of robbery incidents reported in the city's New City neighborhood.

Police said victims were approached for conversation and then allegedly robbed after offenders used physical force or implied that they had a weapon.

The following robberies were reported:

  • 4900-block of S. Damen Avenue on Aug. 27 around 6:50 p.m.
  • 4800-block of S. Damen Avenue on Aug. 27 around 7:35 p.m.
  • 5100-block of S. Racine Avenue on Sept. 4 around 5:58 p.m.
  • 5100-block of S. Racine Avenue on Sept. 7 around 6:30 p.m.

In all of the incidents, police said offenders were described as two African American males either between the ages of 15-18 or 16-21. Both are between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-11 and 120-160 pounds.
