1 dead, 1 critical after police standoff in Englewood, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a SWAT standoff on the city's South Side, police said.

The standoff, which lasted just under eight hours, started when a man barricaded himself inside a home in the 3000-block of West 60th Street with a woman and baby girl, police said.

The man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the woman also suffered a gunshot wound and was hospitalized in critical condition. A 1-year-old girl was not injured but is being monitored.
