1 killed, 6 wounded in West Garfield Park shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One person was killed and six others wounded in a shooting in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood Friday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting occurred in the 3300-block of West Maypole. Police said the victims were standing together outside when someone inside a black vehicle opened fire while driving east on Maypole.

Four of the victims self-transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital. A 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. He was identified as Jeffrey Brinson, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Two men, ages 26 and 27, were wounded in the arm and in good condition. A 34-year-old was wounded in the leg and in critical condition.

A 31-year-old man was wounded in the arm and a 22-year-old woman was shot in the foot. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said. A 21-year-old woman was treated at the scene for a graze wound to the face.

Chicago police are investigating. No one was in custody Saturday.
