DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- The Justice Department filed a discrimination lawsuit against the city of Des Plaines claiming the northwest suburb violated federal law when it refused to allow an Islamic group to operate a place of worship in a vacant office building.

The government says the city blocked the move by imposing parking and zoning rules that were never in force for non-Islamic places of worship.
