CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are warning residents after they say a man allegedly tried to lure a girl into his van in the city's Clearing neighborhood.

The incident happened in the 6100-block of South Melvina Avenue while the girl was waiting to be picked up from school around 2:50 p.m. on Sept. 28, police said. The man drove by in a white van and allegedly gestured for the girl to walk toward him; police say he left before the girl's parents arrived.

The suspect is described as a white male between 43 and 45-years-old with black hair, a full beard and a light complexion, police said.

Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to call Chicago police at 312-747-8380.
