SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- The budget battle in Springfield has now gone on so long that the state can't even pay the electric bill.

City Water, Light and Power, the municipal electric and water utility for Springfield, Illinois, has sent a disconnection note in the mail to the state.

The state owes $2.7 million for an electric bill for last year.

CWLP says it's unlikey that the power will get shut off.
