Man attempted to kidnap 13-year-old girl in West Garfield Park, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police say a man attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl while she was walking in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The girl was walking in the 4000-block of W. Adams around 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 6 when a man allegedly exited his vehicle and attempted to grab her by the arm, police said. The girl was able to escape.

The alleged offender is described as an African American male in his late 30s between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11 with a full black and gray beard, police said. His vehicle is described as a later model sedan, either black or blue, with brown color damage to the driver's side door.
