CHICAGO (WLS) -- "The Great Thanksgiving Listen," a project to record the stories of thousands families over Thanksgiving, is being launched in Chicago.

The founder of the group StoryCorps unveiled it at World Language High School in the city's Little Village neighborhood.

Students will use special phone apps to record conversations with their grandparents or other older relatives. They can then send those stories to the Library of Congress.

StoryCorps hopes to get 65,000 submissions nationally over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
