Truck carrying carrots overturned on I-294 exit

HODGKINS, Ill -- An overturned semi truck is blocking two lanes just past the I-PASS tollbooth from 75th street toward northbound Interstate 294 in the southwest suburbs.

The truck was carrying 39,000 pounds of carrots, state police said.

The driver, of Wisconsin, was driving too fast at about 4:15 p.m. Monday when his truck overturned onto the left ditch in the suburb of Hodgkins, according to the Illinois State Police.

The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
