Democratic lawmakers are pushing for new federal legislation that would ban gun sales to people on the terror watchlist.

According to federal research, people on the FBI's list pass gun background checks more than 90 percent of the time.

Agency officials said it uses that information to step up surveillance on terror suspects.

The bill was introduced earlier this year and recent terror attacks have renewed the call for action.
