CHICAGO (WLS) -- At least 15 people are homeless Saturday night after a fire destroyed an apartment building on Chicago's South Side.

Crews responded about 6:20 p.m. to the blaze in the 5500-block of South Carpenter Street in the city's Englewood neighborhood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The fire was put out by 7 p.m. and no one was hurt, fire officials said.

Five adults and 10 children displaced by the fire were being assisted by the city's Department of Human Services and the Chicago Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
