CALUMET CITY, Ill. (WLS) -- A man accused of killing his ex-wife inside an Edible Arrangements gift shop in Schererville, Ind., was found dead in an Illinois cemetery Sunday afternoon.

For about 24 hours, police searched for Richard James Kalecki, Jr., 49, who police said fatally shot his ex-wife, Alessandra De Moraes-Emiliano, 37, of Merrillville, Ind., on Saturday.

A preliminary report indicate that Kalecki killed himself, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Kalecki's body was found at a Calumet City cemetery.

The shooting happened at about 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lincoln Ridge Plaza, 248 W. Lincoln Hwy., in Schererville, police said.

Kalecki, who was captured on store video entering the Edible Arrangements, was last seen driving away from the store in a rented 2015 Red Toyota Corolla with Ohio license plate number.

De Moraes-Emiliano worked as a manager at the store. Friends said she had told them she was fearful of her Kalecki, whom she divorced in 2012.

The Chicago Tribune reports that De Moraes-Emiliano was engaged to another man.

Following the shooting, police briefly surrounded Kalecki's Crown Point home as they awaited a search warrant to enter the house.

Kalecki is also scheduled to stand trial in March for sexually abusing a child.
