HOUGHTON LAKE, Mich. (WLS) -- Imagine paying less than 50 cents a gallon for gasoline. For a short time in Houghton Lake, Michigan, some gas stations were charging only 47 cents per gallon.

GasBuddy.com said the low price was the result of a price war on Sunday. The price went back up on Monday.

Gas prices are way down across the country, GasBuddy.com said. Nationally, they're around $1.89 a gallon.

In Chicago, the average is around $2 per gallon, GasBuddy said. That's down more than 11 cents in the past week.
