LISLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A church in Lisle held a tribute to a late member of their church, Sandra Bland, who was found dead in her jail cell in Texas last year.

The DuPage African Methodist Episcopal Church held its inaugural Sandra Bland Diversity Institute gathering Monday.

The meetings actually started in 2005, taking place annually on Martin Luther King Day to discuss civil and human rights.

Bland's funeral was held at the church. Her family disputes the finding that bland committed suicide.
