"Clueless" star Stacey Dash calls for end to BET after Oscars controversy

In the wake of the Oscars controversy over an all-white actor nominee field and awards show boycotts by stars like Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee, "Clueless" star Stacey Dash is also speaking up on the issue, stirring up a bit of controversy herself.

In a network TV appearance, Dash, discussing the Oscars, said in part that there should be no Black History Month, among other racially-specific recognition.

She said, "We have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segregation or integration, and if we don't want segregation, then we have to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards."

She continued, ""If it were the other way around, we'd be up in arms. It's a double standard. There shouldn't be a Black History Month. We're Americans, period."

In a post on the religious content website Patheos, Dash said she's not the only person in Hollywood to share the view on Black History Month, citing Morgan Freeman.

Dash's Facebook post on the issue has more than 17,000 likes and nearly 7,000 shares.

Celebrities, as well as the BET network, are now weighing in on Dash's remarks.
