NEIU clashes with neighboring businesses over land
Chicago's Northeastern Illinois University wants something it does not currently have: student housing. And its sights are set on a nearby block of businesses.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A two-year land fight in Chicago has ended in a win for Northeastern Illinois University.

The school is using eminent domain to take over the 3400-block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue at the corner of N. Kimball. Student housing will be built at the location.

Some property owners fought the plan when it was unveiled two years ago.

A construction timeline has not been set for that block of Bryn Mawr, but those businesses still on the street will be allowed to operate for at least another year.
