CHICAGO (WLS) -- Divvy is offering 24-hour passes for $5 on Leap Day.

Chicago's bike share system is hoping the discount will encourage people to explore the city by bicycling.

The 24-hour passes, which usually cost $9.95, are available at all 475 stations across Chicago and allow for unlimited 30 minute trips within a 24-hour period. Riders pay extra for trips that last longer than 30 minutes.

One lucky rider who takes a trip on leap day will also win a free Divvy annual membership, which allows for unlimited short trips for an entire year.

More information about bike share is available at www.divvybikes.com.

Divvy, which features 475 stations and 4,760 bikes across 86.7 square miles, is the largest bike share system in North America and recently announced plans to add about 95 more stations this summer. According to city officials, the Divvy system recorded a 30-percent increase in the number of trips last year, with almost 3.2 million trips in 2015, compared to 2.4 million in 2014.

The system has more than 32,400 annual members.
