CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hillary Clinton received a slew of endorsements in Chicago Friday, the day after she held a large rally in Vernon Hills and the same day her husband, Former President Bill Clinton, campaigned in Peoria.
Congressman Danny Davis, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Alderman Danny Solis and Reverend Ira Acree announced their support of Secretary Clinton in a press conference Friday.
"Hillary has the support of activists like Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly, and Trayvon Martin's mother Sybrina Fulton, because of her tough stance on gun violence prevention," said Cook County Board President Preckwinle. "She will stand up to the gun lobby, and hold them accountable. I'm proud to be one of her supporters."
Congressman Danny Davis said, "I respect my good friend Bernie Sanders, but his views are not nearly as comprehensive relative to what affects African Americans, Latinos, and those deprived of basic services compared to Hillary's. She gets it. Hillary Clinton is very familiar with our issues and that's why she is my candidate, unequivocally and without a doubt."
Secretary Clinton will be back in Chicago Monday for another event in the city.
