CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Portage Park community is discussing potential traffic changes following a hit and run crash that injured two girls.

A seven-year-old and her 14-year-old sister were hit by an alleged drunk driver at the corner of Austin and Cornelia. The area has no traffic signals or stop signs.

That prompted community leaders to call for a study of traffic safety in the area.

Parents say speed cameras would make the intersection safer.

"It hurts you in the pocket. Who wants a $100 ticket? I know I don't," said one resident.

The city is also considering extra crossing guards and stop signs.
