Sulfuric acid spill contained on Far South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A hazardous materials response team was called to Chicago's Far South Side Sunday following a chemical spill.

The Chicago Fire Dept. said 500 gallons of sulfuric acid spilled at a building in the 12200-block of S. Carondolet.

Chicago firefighters were able to clean up the scene. There were no evacuations and no one was hurt.
